Day 26: On The Causeway

I like this shot a lot, but it’s completely artificial. Not that I created it with photoshop, but rather, I created it with the camera.

It was actually quite a nice day out, and there was just a hint of the fingers of sunlight coming through the clouds, so I shot a low ISO, higher, smaller aperture, fast shutter, and my trusty Cokin ND2 filter dragged right down over the lens. On top of that, I metered the light on the brightest portion of the shot, where the sun comes through, to darken the rest intentionally.

What I got was a shot that gives a completely false feel of ‘after the storm’, which it wasn’t at all. It was just a nice, cold, somewhat overcast day.

But this is what I made it into:

artificial storm
f/10, 0.006 second, ISO 200
Nikon D70s, Nikon 18-70mm ED DX, Cokin P-series ND2
